Very Observant

November 22, 2010

Peter: Hey mom, did you know you are a different color from all of us?
Me: Really?
Peter: Yes.
Me: What color are all of you?
Peter: Brown. We are all all brown (includes Amos and Lily with wave).
Me: And what color am I?
Peter: I don’t know…. (Thinking hard) Red? Maybe orange. Or pink. But not brown. Very different from brown.

Orange? Have you been hitting the self-tanner, Emily?

I thought that made more sense than his original suggestion of “red.”

Awesome. I love the colors he assigns to you. Anything but brown.

Jack has just started noticing skin color differences. He insists we are “tan.” He does not understand “pasty white” as a skin color term.
