Yes: That Library does Look Like a Supermarket

August 25, 2010

We went to the famous Rochester Toy Library last week. Based on the website information and the librarians’ blog, I kind of expected a closet-like room overrun with unruly and unaccompanied hellions, but it wasn’t. It was a very large room and the toys are as organized as you can hope to keep such desirable contents. There are lots of play staples, like blocks and cars, but a good mix of other toys I have not yet invested in. They also have riding toys you can borrow. The section I will probably use the most, though, are the educational games or modified learning manipulatives, because I just have to stop spending more money on my classroom than my school district does.

My kids thought they were in heaven, though. And as long as I return the items directly back to the Toy Library, unlike those “new Brighton patrons” (oh yes–we were called OUT) who return items to the Brighton library, then we should be in good shape. If we can find those two missing marbles Peter lost. Soon.

I was just going to tell you we gave all our marbles to April and to ask her for a few. 🙂
