Peter Might be a Giant

February 26, 2009

It may surprise you that someone born in 2007 is the world’s biggest fan of an early 1990s alternative music group. Well, Peter just can’t get enough of John and John. I blame this

It started about a year ago with They Might Be Giant’s Here Come the ABCs, which he loved. I recently added Here Come the 123s, and now it is non-stop, 24 hours a day requests of “123s,” “High Five,” “QU,” “ABCs,” and “No No Never go to Work.” Don’t get me wrong: this is the best kids music around, and I don’t mind it a bit (OK, I would like to listen to the news on the radio every once in a while). But Peter is still developing his taking turns skills, and if Lily is watching something else, Peter can only take about 10 minutes of good-natured “not yet” before it becomes a “High Five” emergency.

So, if you have a someone under 10 to buy a present for, I highly reccommend this.

Just seeing this album cover caused me to have “Go, Go, Go, Go for G” race through my mind. I’ll be singing it all week.

    Great taste, Peter!

They also do an excellent job on “The Sun is a Mass of Incandescent Gas.” (Taken from a rather quirky album of kids’ science songs from the 1960s that also includes that ever-popular classic “Friction.” )
